Video URL

To convert your YouTube video URL to the GradSift required format, simply paste your URL below.

Video

The recorded video is an opportunity for an employer to make sure you're genuinely interested in a career with them. Unlike traditional video interview platforms, GradSift helps you present at your best. No structured questions and no time pressure.

Note: not all employers want to see a video. If that's the case they will state that in their application process and the GradSift video icon will be grey coloured and not allow you to upload.

What do I say? Introduce yourself, saying what you've studied, one or two key achievements (briefly) and why you're interested in a career with the employer. Keep it to around 60 seconds.

How do I record? You self-record and then upload the video to YouTube. Save your YouTube video as Unlisted and it can only be viewed by people who have access to the URL. You control that and you can also delete the video at any time.

How do I upload into GradSift?

From My Programs, select the video icon for that program and paste the YouTube URL. For security reasons we only accept the https://youtu.be/ prefix.

What is my YouTube video URL?

To find the https://youtu.be/ URL for your video, select your video and click the three dots for OPTIONS, then GET SHAREABLE LINK.

If you’ve clicked on your video, to the far right you should see "Copy Video Link”.

Can't find the URL that starts with https://youtu.be/ ?

You may be seeing https://youtube.com/video/(11 letters and numbers eg. abcde12345) or https://youtube.com/shorts/abcde12345?feature=share.

Simply add the 11 letters and numbers to https://youtu.be/
For example, https://youtu.be/abcde12345

In GradSift the video is assigned to a specific employer. That means only that employer can see the video. If you have multiple employers in GradSift, you can record a unique video for each employer. You enter the unique YouTube URL links for each employer. Or you could choose to make a more generic video and use that for multiple employers.

How do I create an unlisted video in YouTube?

1. Create or Sign into your YouTube Account.

2. Go to your My Videos page.

3. Upload your recorded video

4. Select the video and click the Edit button to access the video's settings.

5. Go to the Privacy section of the page and choose Unlisted

6. Don't forget to click the Save Changes button.

No YouTube Access?

If for some reason you don't have access to YouTube, contact support@gradsift.com and we can upload your video to our account and give you the URL to paste into GradSift.

Personal Data

This tells employers where you are located, the locations you're prepared to work and your current working rights status. When selecting locations you're prepared to work be sure to include your home location (If appropriate).

Completing Education Information

Start by selecting your highest level of education. For post-school qualifications you have the option to add up to three courses. Start with the most recent.

Choose from the eleven discipline categories on the left, then the major or specialisation on the right. If you don't see your specialisation check that it may be listed under another discipline.

If you completed a degree with multiple majors, add the disciplines/majors under the relevant degree. If your most recent degree is a dual degree eg. Bachelor of Business/Law, select the broad discipline and then the major.

Honours degree is recorded the same as a single degree. We ask you to clarify if you completed a dual or post-graduate degree later.

If you studied at more than one institution, complete the most recent, then select ADD to add up to two more.

It's optional to answer this. Some employers have policies to promote diversity hiring mature aged graduates.

Employment History

You can nominate up to three employment experiences. If you have more than three, list the roles that are more relevant to your employment or are the most significant jobs you’ve held.

Enter the name of the employer, then nominate the employer sector, the estimated staff numbers in the organisation, the main job function you performed, whether it was part-time or full-time and the level of your job.

If you have held more than one role with the same employer, list them separately. For example, you may have started as a Sales Assistant with a retail company and then progressed to Assistant Manager. That can be listed as two roles.

Job Levels

There are several categories to choose from under Job Level.

  • Apprentice/Trainee
  • Trades/Technician/Operator
  • Volunteer/Unpaid Placement. This is an unpaid role.
  • Paid Intern/Work Placement. The emphasis is that it’s a paid internship or paid work placement.
  • Tutor – Tertiary. The emphasis of this role is that it’s university or tertiary level tutoring. If you tutor high school students, that would be classified as Assistant (Professional).
  • General Employee (Non-Professional). These typically don't requiring qualifications. Examples include retail sales, customer service and administration. Students often have these jobs while studying.
  • Assistant/Entry Level (Professional). This is a paid position where you’re working in a professional capacity. It’s a regular job, not an internship/work placement.
  • Graduate (Professional). This a full-time, paid graduate position.
  • Senior
  • Supervisor/Manager. A position where you have people management responsibilities.
  • Self Employed
